Posture Correction

It is important to understand that your posture both is affected by and affects muscles, tissues, and joints.

If one of these is functioning improperly, it can cause the others to function improperly as well, leading to some major posture problems.

For instance, if the muscles are weak, too tense, or there is another issue, they will not support the spine or joints. Without that support, the spine will not be aligned correctly.

With improper alignment, additional strain is put on the joints and muscles. All of these things work together to help a person have the correct posture.

At Shapiro Family Chiropractic & Wellness Center, we can help improve your posture.

The Ways Good Posture Can Improve Your Life

Since the muscles, joints, and tissues all need to work properly to support one another, a chiropractor addresses each area to affect the whole.

Adjustments

When the spine is misaligned, a chiropractor will perform chiropractic adjustments to help put it back in its proper form.

Muscles and Tissues

The chiropractor also provides treatment for the muscles and tissues by way of exercises, stretching, strengthening, and relaxation techniques.

How to Keep Good Posture

After your chiropractic care, you must change some habits that negatively impact your posture.

Sitting

The way you sit can hurt your posture more than most other things. You should always sit with your feet on the floor and your shoulders relaxed. Set a timer on your phone at least every hour to get up and walk around. Sitting for too long in one position can be harmful.

Standing

Make sure your shoulders are rolled back, feet are shoulder-width apart, and all the weight goes to your heels.

Lying Down

Find a mattress that supports your spine properly. Always use a pillow that supports your head and avoid sleeping on your stomach.

Seek Chiropractic Care to Help Your Posture

Correcting your posture by yourself can be difficult, especially if you have been sitting, standing, and lying improperly for long periods.

Our chiropractor, Dr. Cory Shapiro, can help fix your posture and provide other chiropractic care to improve your health and reduce your pain.
